Are modern-style houses popular among people in new construction projects?

Every new house seems to be this ugly box. Everyone I’ve spoken to agrees they’re unattractive. Are these houses cheaper to build, or do people actually enjoy them?

Aesthetics can be quite subjective in terms of personal preference. What one individual thinks unsightly, another may find alluring. Some homeowners choose utility, energy efficiency and cheap upkeep over elaborate architecture.Deciding on a home design frequently involves balancing money, personal preferences and practical factors :crossed_fingers:

I am a licenced architect with decades of expertise creating high-end residences. I adore the modern home style. I’m so weary of seeing classic homes everywhere. Regardless matter how many dormers and gables are added or what materials are utilised, they are quite uninteresting to look at, and the interiors are simply boring boxy rooms. Modern homes are unique and enjoyable to live in. Until a few years ago, my wife held a traditional attitude (she has no design or art experience or training). She eventually sees the light after spending time in numerous modern homes. There is no comparable experience. Modern homes are a pleasure to live in. Full of light and playful loudness and shapes. Traditional homes are a relic of an austere, impoverished and repressive past.

The house design depends on the type of architect. If you find time I suggest you look at building designs that are being done by Bjarke Ingels and his company the Bjarke Ingels Group. Great designs, he’s my dream architect if I ever make the money to afford to build a house

Jason… The trend towards more simplistic, box-like modern houses can be attributed to several factors, including cost-effectiveness and changing architectural preferences. These houses often utilize straightforward designs and materials, which can reduce construction costs compared to more elaborate architectural styles. Additionally, some people appreciate the clean, minimalist aesthetic and the functionality these designs offer. However, aesthetic preferences are subjective, and not everyone finds them appealing. The popularity of box-like houses varies by region and demographic, and factors like efficiency in space and energy use also influence their appeal.
