Cheap lawyer for real estate closing

Any recommendations? I am guessing you don’t get what you pay for since it’s just a standard procedure so hoping to save money where possible

Pretty much every firm is going to have a standard rate for a real estate transaction between 9-1200 when taking into account disbursements.

Anywhere in that range is fair. It’s a standard practice, 99% of the work is done by assistants. The only time a lawyer touches it is to do a final review of the documents then sit down to sign with you.

You’d ‘think’ it’s just a standard process but I had a horrible experience with Kahane Law so I would just recommend staying clear of them.

I second this. Just terrible ,When we had conversations with the actual lawyer it was fine. The paralegal on the other hand was a clown. She had the wrong address on our paperwork. Wouldn’t respond to emails ever.

There’s no such thing as a ‘cheap’ lawyer, and if you find one there’s a reason you’re getting a discount.

Most real estate agents have a relationship built with a lawyer that gives their clients a discount. It’s usually only a couple of hundred though. I think I paid $750 last summer for a very straight forward closing.

Summit Legal Group or Shivji Law have been great, and both were reasonable prices.

I had a great experience with Max (forget his last name) at Clark & Clark. I’ve used him twice. He’s cheap, does a good job, and he’s pleasant to deal with. Also close to Chinook Center so it’s easy to get to.

We just used www.tomtaylorlaw.ca by Glenmore and Blackfoot Trail SE a couple weeks back. It was a little over $1200 for a condo purchase, he seemed competent and the whole process went smoothly.
