Has anyone here ever used CrossCountry Mortgage?

Has anyone here ever used CrossCountry Mortgage? I’m looking at a $180k purchase with 23.6% down ($42,500) and estimating around $8.9k in closing costs.

I’ve paid for a home inspection, a structural engineer, and an appraisal through them. However, my local credit union is estimating $4.6k in closing costs with a 7.6% rate. These estimates were from their website calculator before applying.

Am I making a mistake?

Avoid it! The only lender with worse customer service is USAA, and it’s a close competition.

I agree with this. We went with Cross Country Mortgage and they’re terrible. Their customer service is the worst. Accessing the member portal is also a hassle; it feels like they’re always moving to new servers or changing things around. I really wish we had chosen a different company. Not a good first experience at all.

Hey, my offer got accepted yesterday and I’m going through CrossCountry Mortgage. Can I ask, did they charge you a lot for closing costs? I feel like I’m scrambling a bit with the limited information they’ve provided me.

Based on my experience, credit unions generally offer better deals if you qualify. However, their stricter underwriting rules often result in a slightly longer closing process.

Although I genuinely can’t recall how much I paid, I can state that they did contribute $5,000 to assist me with closing fees. They were good in that regard. They assisted me in obtaining the house and secured me a loan with an incredibly low interest rate. Their subpar back-end customer service is something you have to deal with once you purchase the house. I hope this is useful. And congratulations! Sending you my best wishes.
