How to buy a house? Literally, how?

Hey Homeowners,

I am genuinely asking for a simple explanation of the steps to buy a house.

We will have around 5% for a down payment soon.

Do we get pre-qualified for a loan first?

Is the bank the best place for that?

Should we use Zillow for tours or hire a realtor?

What about closing costs? Do we save for those separately or include them in the loan?

We’re first-time homebuyers with two small kids, looking to move closer to family.

Renting isn’t an option because of our budget and having a dog.

Any tips we will appreciate

First, get pre-qualified for a mortgage (banks or lenders can help). Then, consider hiring a realtor to help with house hunting. Use Zillow to browse and set up tours. Once you find a house, make an offer and save separately for closing costs.

banks or mortgage brokers can help. Use a realtor for tours and guidance. Closing costs are usually separate, so save for those too. Moving closer to family sounds great, especially with kids and a dog. Good luck!
