Is it worth getting a realtor for a rental in DC?

I have lived in three different buildings in DC so far and I’m thinking about renting a condo, loft, or townhome this time around. I know there are sites where I can see various listings, but I’m wondering if it would be worth working with a realtor during the process. Like, can they help me find something that’s a good deal, clean, and safe? Any thoughts?

Honestly, I think it’s always worth it to work with a good realtor, even for rentals. They can really help you navigate the market and find a place that fits your needs.

A realtor can also assist you in negotiating the terms of your lease, like who pays for utilities and if pets are allowed. It’s great to have someone who knows what to look for in a contract.

For sure, they can help you understand what you’re signing, which is super important. Sometimes there are hidden terms that you might not notice without a realtor.

But do you think it’s really necessary? I mean, can’t I just look online and find a place myself?

I agree with DEF. A realtor can make the whole process smoother. Plus, they usually don’t charge the renter directly, so it’s often worth it to get their help.
