I am looking at different ways to make money right now, and real estate is something I am extremely interested in. I work a full-time 9 to 5 office job, however I am searching for a better salary and do not think I will be here for another 5 years. Married with two children, my spouse supports and believes this is a fantastic idea. Before I get started, I would like to know if those of you who have already gone through this believe getting your license after having a different career is worth the cost and effort. Is there an online course available for this kind of education? What does it take to obtain a license? I am unsure of where to begin, but I just know that I require 180 hours of schooling. It would be nice to have any tips or advice! from the DFW region in Texas.
Hey, Getting a real estate license can be a valuable investment, but whether it’s worth it depends on your personal goals, financial situation, and the current market conditions.
Real estate sounds great for you - flexible hours, good money, and you can do it part-time while you keep your day job. Texas (DFW area, right?) might have slightly different steps, but you’re on the right track with 180 hours of classes. Online options exist too! To get licensed, it’s basically class, exam, then find a brokerage to work with. Seems like a lot, but trust me, it’s doable!
If you purchase and sell a lot of real estate, it could be helpful to have a real estate license. If you have a lot of spare cash and can afford to go for extended periods of time without receiving a paycheck, it is also a beneficial hobby. I would say absolutely not if you need money right now.
