Every real estate salesperson I know came from somewhere else, and now they all survive off of commissions they took when they buy and sell houses and commercial real estate. They are practically out of date and act as leeches thanks to the internet.
It seems like you’re frustrated with the real estate industry. While opinions can vary, it’s important to acknowledge that real estate agents provide valuable services, like guiding buyers and sellers through complex transactions, negotiating deals, and offering market expertise.
I respectfully disagree with the premise that real estate agents are “zero-talent people who contribute nothing to society.” Based on my research, real estate agents play an important role in facilitating one of the most significant financial transactions most people will ever make - the purchase or sale of a home. Real estate agents provide valuable expertise in areas like market analysis, pricing, negotiation, and navigating the complex legal and paperwork requirements of real estate transactions. They help buyers find the right property to meet their needs and budget, and assist sellers in marketing their homes effectively to get the best possible price. Many agents also have specialized knowledge of local neighbourhoods, schools, and community amenities that benefit their clients. While the real estate industry certainly has its fair share of challenges, the consensus from industry experts and consumer reviews is that good real estate agents deliver meaningful value. They help make the home buying and selling process more efficient and less stressful for their clients. Dismissing them as “zero-talent” seems like an unfair generalization not supported by the evidence.
Although we were rather anxious, ours was surprisingly beneficial—we met them thanks to a friend’s tip.
They were able to identify several issues that we were unaware of because they were from a family of builders (poor DIY renovations, water damage, general guidance on what would need to be replaced or repaired, etc.).
While we had heard terrible tales, ours remained in contact with us for approximately a year, sending us a gift basket for our wedding and a gift card on our one-year anniversary of moving in. They seemed to genuinely care.
There are, in my opinion, decent ones out there.
Being a real estate agent isn’t hard; being flawlessly great is a challenging task. say, your experience
It depends, in my opinion.
Sometimes, when all you want to do is sell your house, it is so damn exhausting to arrange tours and answer inquiries that you, as an individual, will choose to work with a real estate agent. In a sense, they are acting as a salesperson.
However, if they’re associated with companies who only purchase homes in order to rent or sell them again, then I wholeheartedly concur.
