Hi, I’m writing here because I recently sold a house but at a loss and with a lot of emotional stress, and I still feel terrible. I was actually in a very good starting position but made a lot of mistakes. The house in question was my parents’ house that I inherited when I was a minor. I didn’t want to sell it, but the house needed renovations, which were very expensive. After almost €300,000 invested, I decided to sell due to heavy rent regulation and a bad feeling about the garden. I first tried to sell it myself but ended up using an estate agent who pressured me. After 20 viewings, I got an offer of €610,000 that I felt uncomfortable accepting. I ultimately sold for €550,000, making a loss of around €70k. Now I feel like I’ve ruined my life. Has anything similar happened to anyone else? How can you cope? I feel so ashamed.
Buying and selling real estate can be very emotional. Even as a real estate agent myself, I find I’m often more of an emotional support guide than what others think a real estate agent really is. You’re not alone in this. I’ve helped many people through tough situations, and it’s just how it goes. No one is perfect.

Thanks for your understanding. It’s comforting to know I’m not alone.
It sounds like you had a lot of emotions going on. It’s unfortunate what happened, and the market can be brutal in ways you wouldn’t expect.
The good thing is that you’re young, and you have a lot of life ahead of you. Take this as a learning experience. $70k is a lot, but use it to motivate you to be more mindful next time.
Totally get where you’re coming from. I made some bad decisions in the past too, and it can feel overwhelming. Just remember, every experience teaches us something.

That’s true. I just hope to make better decisions in the future.
