I’ll try to make this one short. So Cal house we are looking at. List price $1.32M, we originally offered asking price and didn’t get accepted. Seller had multiple offers at 150k over asking and they have now fallen through on 3 of the (fake)offers. They came back to us again and asked for 1.4, we countered with 1.375 and they said no and found another offer, which fell through AGAIN because the buyer couldnt perform. They came back to us today and said they would take our 1.375 offer but we told them no, that offer has expired. At this point we are totally over it and ready to walk away, but for shits we offered our original asking of 1.32 again, now waiting to hear back. Has anyone had to deal with this? I am so over it but I still like the house, the seller/listing agent are just playing games.
I’d be pretty ticked off so it’s good that you told them no…serves them right for jerking you around so much, I’d leave it alone for awhile, maybe they’ll finally wise up and reduce the price…if not, it wasn’t meant to be.
Can’t blame them. If we were selling our houses we would take the higher offers too. If the house is still worth that number for them OP should jump on it.
Yup. I’m a Realtor and four-time homebuyer. This happens. Don’t take it personally, and don’t get emotional about it. If you’re getting a house you love at a price that makes sense, that’s all that matters.
Yes, winning in this case means getting the deal you want, not necessarily walking away with all of your pride intact! Sometimes it’s collateral damage but ultimately you get the house.
Good on you for taking a “look this is my offer take it or leave it” approach on this last try. Be aware that the sellers might be unreasonable and the property might have issues that caused previous offers to fall through.
Be alert but not paranoid. There are other houses out there.
They will play you, don’t cave never fall in love with property. Your the one the ends up paying. Many Realtors don’t do enough for these high commissions. They should be protesting you the buyer but they protect their own pockets.
I would be definitely wanting to see the inspections and disclosures. Something else is going on at the property.
Yes, we have been in a similar place, but now we are sorry we did not takenl the offer because we’re sick of looking. I feel like we have been looking forever.
Frankly, I’d offer a cool million, take it or leave it. If answer is no, then all good, but don’t bother me again. Play some hardball and see what they do .
Probably should have not been petty! You obviously liked the house and made an offer originally for a certain price point you were good with. They tried to get more money and they have every right to try and get the most out of it. You will do the same when you sell! But to reject an offer to go at your original offer? You could lose the house you really liked!
