We signed a contract to list our house at what we thought was a reasonable price, but after a month with only one showing, we discovered it wasn’t listed on our local MLS but one 120 miles away. Is this normal? Is it our fault for not realizing they wouldn’t list it locally?
Absolutely not normal! You should have been informed. Definitely look into canceling the contract.
You got suckered. That’s total BS. You should cancel or rescind the contract.
Do they do reciprocity? In some areas, different MLSs share information, so it might not matter as much.
What you’re describing is a ‘data share.’ Some MLSs allow searching listings from outside their area, but you should have been informed.
Check if your listing shows on Zillow or Redfin. Many buyers aren’t looking at MLS directly.
