So I’ve been dealing with these annoying BSOD issues since I started using a new 4K monitor, but I switched back to my old setup and still have the crashes. Event Viewer shows event 161 volmgr before every crash, followed by event 41 kernel-power. It’s such a headache because there’s no pattern to trigger it, and it happens like once a day. Looking at the minidump files, it points to ntoskrnl.exe, but I’m really lost on how to fix this. I could use some help figuring this out…
This could be caused by a lot of things. First, make sure you don’t have multiple antivirus programs running; Windows Defender is usually fine on its own.

Got it, I’ll check that out. I didn’t think about conflicting antivirus programs.
You should run a memtest to see if a bad RAM stick is causing this. If you have multiple sticks, try using one at a time to see if the issue persists.

That sounds like a good idea. I’ll try that and see if it helps.
Also, check for driver issues. You can use DDU to reset your display drivers, and then grab the latest drivers from AMD or Nvidia.

I’ve heard of DDU but never used it. What does it do exactly?
@Teal
DDU stands for Display Driver Uninstaller. It helps remove all traces of your graphics driver so you can install a fresh copy cleanly.
You may also want to update other drivers from your motherboard support page. Sometimes outdated drivers can cause these kinds of issues.

It sounds like you have a lot going on. Gathering more minidumps might help narrow down the issue further. Do you know how to do that?

Yeah, I can collect those. I just need to figure out where to find them.
