Looking for a house to live in near Los Angeles, which area is best Hawthorne or Westchester? I heard Hawthorne has a really good school district
Are you talking about LA? If so, I know Hawthorne has a magnet high school that is supposed to be great, however when I was growing up everyone one in Hawthorne was trying to send their kids to my High School, El Segundo High School. If you are talking about LA then I would move to El Segundo hands down instead of either Westchester or Hawthorne.
Hawthorne in the Wiseburn/Hollyglen neighborhood is better away from the planes and traffic bottlenecks on the main streets. House are smaller in Wiseburn/Hollyglen neighborhoods with the Wiseburn School District and DaVinci Schools bordering Manhattan Beach without the price tags. Westchester is mainly seniors and LMU. Most kids from there have to come to Wiseburn or El Segundo for middle school as Westchester is part of Los Angeles city and LAUSD.
@Corin
Thank you so much! For some reason I thought the school district was the same for Hawthorne and el segundo.

No. Wiseburn uses Hawthorne post code but it’s LA County. Hollyglen gets claimed by City of Hawthorne-only about 10 blocks of houses can go to Wiseburn and Da Vinci directly. West of Inglewood Ave (literally walking across the street) go to Hawthorne School District and the house is much bigger but almost 300k less and double the size. Essentially paying premium for the school district.
City of El Segundo have their own school district. It’s good as well but I didn’t like too close to the Chevron refinance on one end and sewage/LAX on the other end but downtown El Segundo is Mayberry USA.
If you’re talking about NY Hawthorne is a town in Westchester
