What is the best advice on Renting a House from a Private Landlord?

I’m moving to a new city and considering renting a house from a private landlord. I’m unsure about handling maintenance issues, what to include in a lease, deposit expectations, background checks, and negotiating terms. Any advice on these topics or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated to ensure a smooth renting process.

In my opinion, the level of service you receive from a commercial entity is usually much better, although each experience can vary greatly.

As long as you sign the lease, that’s legally binding. I’m sure this is all legit. Not everyone needs a website especially if they only have 1 or 2 places they rent out.

The major rights you have are to stay there for the duration of the lease as long as you follow the terms and regulations of the lease agreement. In summary, you must always behave properly, be courteous, and have manners. You must be considerate and gentle to the point where, if a neighbor is asked about you, he will respond that he rarely hears anything from your flat and has never seen you come in or leave. That comment, in the eyes of the landlord, would be a feather in your cap.
