When traveling, how do you categorize restaurant expenses?

When I’m on a trip, I usually categorize restaurant expenses as travel since it’s not my usual day-to-day spend. How do you handle this in your budget reviews?

I keep them as separate categories. If it’s a vacation, all expenses are categorized as vacation.

That makes sense. Keeping them separate might help me track better.

Yeah, it gives a clearer picture of your spending. Plus, it helps to see exactly how much you’re spending on food vs. other travel expenses.

@Rory
Exactly! Sometimes food can add up quickly on trips.

Definitely. It’s surprising how much those little expenses can accumulate over a week.

If it’s a day trip, it goes into my regular dining budget. Longer trips go into travel.

Interesting approach. I’ll consider that for my weekend trips.

It works well for keeping things organized! This way, short trips don’t inflate your travel budget unnecessarily.

@Beryl
Makes sense. I’ll give it a try on my next day out.

Great! Hope it helps you keep better track of your expenses.

I have two travel categories: main for flights and lodging, and other for food and tickets.

That’s a smart way to break it down. I’ll try that.

It helps see how much each part of the trip costs. You can easily identify if you’re overspending in a particular area.

@DirectorRich
True, having detailed categories could be really insightful.

Absolutely. Detailed tracking can make budgeting much more effective.

For me, it’s travel. I like seeing all trip expenses in one place.

Exactly! Makes budgeting easier. Plus, it’s satisfying to see the total cost of a trip at a glance.

@Uma
Right, it’s great for planning future trips too.
