This is just a little rant, so please bear with me! My husband and I just bought our first home, and it’s a new construction build. Everything went smoothly and we’re loving it so much more than apartment life! But… the interior paint! Everything was painted ‘alabaster white’ — walls, trim, outlets, doors… EVERYTHING! It looked like a hospital waiting room. We started painting the day we got the keys because I couldn’t live with such a bland color scheme. Anyway, I just had to vent! Anyone else deal with this?
A lot of people prefer white or lighter greys because they’re trending right now. Makes homes feel fresh and new. But I get it, in 5-10 years, it’ll probably look dated.

Yeah, I guess that makes sense. I just wish we had more color options to begin with. 
I feel you, but imagine if they’d painted it a color you really didn’t like. White is at least easier to paint over!

True! I guess painting over white is better than covering a color I hate. Still, it was so bland!
Honestly, builder-grade paint is pretty cheap. Even if they had painted it something else, you’d probably have to repaint it soon anyway!

Good point! At least this way, we can make it how we want right away.
We just moved into a new build too, and yeah, everything was white for us as well. We decided to embrace it for now and just put some colorful decor up to make it feel less sterile.

That’s a good approach! We thought about that too, but I couldn’t resist getting the paintbrush out right away. 
You’re definitely not alone! Our new build had the same ‘alabaster white’ everywhere too. It’s almost like they just don’t want to deal with color options.

Exactly! It’s like they just pick the easiest color for mass production and call it a day.
