Having Issues with our Realtor

Hey everyone… After a lot of thought, we decided to sell our home last summer because it just wasn’t working for us. We found a new development we loved and got pre-approved for a loan. We spoke to a few realtors, and while one suggested listing for $410k, we went with another who promised $450k but needed some work. After some landscaping and repairs, we listed in October. Almost immediately, our realtor pressured us to drop the price by $500, which my husband agreed to. Then she found another development for us that was slightly pricier but had more features. We did an open house with minimal advertising, and surprise, no one came. After lowering the price by $25k, we have had zero bites, and now she wants us to drop it another $10k. We’re stuck in a contract until next August, and I’m feeling totally lost. Can we get out of this? Any advice on how to handle this situation? Thanks!

I get that you like her as a buyer’s representative, but if she’s not working well for selling your home, it might be worth finding someone else who knows that market better.

Real talk, her connections might not help you much as a buyer. If you offer the best price, that’s what matters to sellers, not her connections.

You really need to consider if lowering the price again is wise. If your house is in good condition and in a decent location, it might just be the price that’s off.

You could always pull the house off the market and move back in. If the market isn’t right, sometimes it’s better to wait.

If you’re not happy, definitely send her a message about withdrawing. You can say you want to cancel the contract and relist later with someone more local.

I had a similar situation. I fired my agent and it was the best decision. Just be clear in your communication and ask to be released from the contract. You deserve someone who works for you!
