I’m debating whether to sell my property to Opendoor or through a traditional agency. My situation is complicated, and a quick sale would alleviate a lot of headaches. However, working with an agent could help me navigate the paperwork and other issues. I’ve had three initial calls from a Redfin agent today, and I’m already feeling frustrated.
CONs: You’ll likely get less money for your property, the closing and inspection processes may be rushed, and it could negatively impact your neighbors/community.
PROs: It’s quick and easy as long as nothing goes wrong.
Everyone wants 3 things when selling: top dollar, quick sale, and a stress-free process. iBuyers and services like Redfin typically emphasize quick and stress-free, but not necessarily top dollar.
If you choose an agent, you may get considerably more money, but it will take more time and involve more stress, especially when vetting agents. In my experience, the extra effort can easily be worth five figures.
By the way, everyone should read the FTC ruling on Opendoor.
