What’s your ideal lot size (in acres) and how far would the closest neighbors be?

Asking about your ideal house/land in a hypothetical situation, not what you currently have… but feel free to share both!

As both a city and country person, I personally like privacy, so would ideally have 50+ wooded acres and neighbors that aren’t visible but within a half mile or so.

I live on two acres in the suburbs of DC, 1/2 grass 1/2 woods. Neighbors have fences and trees to block the views to each other’s homes. The best part of living here is that I can pee outside wherever and whenever I want and… I do.

Five acres I think is our ideal. Big enough to do stuff with ie garden, play area for the kids but not so large it’s a maintenance time suck. Also neighbors are close enough but also not right on top.

I know I’m going completely against the grain here, but I prefer a smaller lot! We have a little under a quarter acre and it’s absolutely perfect! I like not having huge spaces between neighbors because then I can be closer to everything.

Dimensions matter. We have 27 acres but only 175’ wide and over a mile deep. I love it but I’d love it more if it were a big square so my nearest neighbors were further away.

Years ago I tried getting fiber cable at my house and the ISP gave me an installation quote of $88,000 to come build 5 more utility poles needed to extend their lines… so yeah it’s expensive.

The way this country is right now? 1000+ acres.

10 acres so I don’t have to see my neighbors. Currently on less than 5,000 sq feet and it’s taking its toll lol.

We have one acre of waterfront and it’s amazing. The neighbors on one side still a bit close but we bought the lot in between so we’re not right on top of each other.
